Pima Community of Practice on Transition (Pima CoPT) is back up and running!

We are a part of a state Arizona Community of Practice (AZCoPt). There are many CoPT’s all over the state of Arizona. If you want to see what is happening statewide visit:   http://www.azed.gov/specialeducation/transition/azcopt/

 Pima CoPt’s mission:

Through effective community collaboration and action driven outcomes, the Pima Community of Practice on Transition will increase the well-being of youth and young adults with diverse disabilities by reducing barriers, providing opportunities and resources, and engaging community partners.

We are a group of educators, parents, employment agencies, youth, and other community members throughout Pima County working on several projects to better transition services in Pima County.

WorkAbility Was at the Rillito Farmer's Market!

WorkAbility does an Entrepreneurship exhibit at the Rillito Farmer’s Market twice per year. Its a wonderful partnership that we have built over that last 4 years!

The Entrepreneurship aspect of the Starting Line for Employment Curriculum provides students practice time for all of the soft skills they learn leading up to this lesson. Students choose a product/s to sell, do research on how much the product costs to make and sell, create marketing materials for the product/s, practice describing their product, and how they will sell it at the market.

Past products created and sold were Bottle Cap Jewelry, Cards and Scarves, Mosaic Stepping Stones, and Decoupage Art.

We always sell our gourmet WorkAbility Popcorn – Featured flavors are Sriracha Toasted Coconut Vanilla Honey Caramel, Garlic Parmesan, and Vanilla Honey Caramel. We sometimes feature gourmet Marshmallows as well!
